Here’s some of the work produced at Sizzle…

The Midnight Alliance - Mango Chutney

There’d be something wrong if some of my favourite work wasn’t with my own bands! Here’s a snippet of the recent recording I made with The Midnight Alliance.

This one is truly home-grown: written, arranged, recorded, produced, mixed and mastered right here at Sizzle! This recording became a great example of how recording a song allows you to learn it. We all changed and improved our parts, during the course of the recording, to reach what we hope is the definitive version.

Selby & the Dharma Blitz - Howling Grace

This belter is the title track from Selby & the Dharma Blitz latest album - Howling Grace. It’s also completely home-grown.

In the production of this album, I made it my mission to keep things real and organic. All those crazy sounds and effects are the sounds of real instruments and human voices thrown to effects busses and manipulated like mad. No synths were used in this production!

Sharon Stanley plays Schumann - Fantasy in C Major (Op. 17)

It was such a pleasure to make these recordings for eminent concert pianist Sharon Stanley. Here, the challenge was to faithfully capture every nuance of this performance, which is as vigorous as it is sensitive. We recorded at her home in Bournemouth on her beautiful Steinway piano, and then mixed and mastered here at Sizzle Studio. Microphone placement was the key, as we wanted to do as little as possible to these recordings in post. This kind of location recording is often a little nerve wracking, but it’s thrilling too, especially when working with such talent. Find the full album at sharonstanley.bandcamp.com
